Got interview at Directory Publication
« on: May 08, 2009, 06:41:36 AM »
This was an opening at a small directory in Washington, DC.  The position was for a proofreader.  I have attained by Bachelors in English from a Big Eight School in the midwest.  A white school.  I felt as though I was very qualified for the position.

When I walked in they all had this "Oh My God" expression on their face.  They looked like they saw a ghost.  This white guy answered the door.  Behind him was another white guy.  And two white women were also in the office.  One of the white women didn't seem surprised that I was black, but the rest were.

The whole interview he asked me two questions.  And that was.  "Did you find the place O.K."  And "How did you here about us".  I was dressed to the nine, breath smelled good and everything.  I just couldn't understand it.  He then told me about the position that I sort of felt that I wasn't getting.
The interview lasted all of five minutes.  A complete waste of my time.  After a month went by I thought to myself.  Well, I guess they must have filled the position.  I looked in the newspaper for a job and there it was big and bold as day.  They were still searching for someone to fill the position.  I just shook my head.
